Dr. Amala Jayanthi M

Dr. Amala Jayanthi is an Assistant Professor in Computing at the University of Stirling, Ras Al Khaimah Campus, United Arab Emirates, with over 14 years of combined experience across higher education, research, and the software industry. Her work focuses on computing education, data science, software development, educational data mining and artificial intelligence with a particular interest in enhancing student learning through research-informed, practice-oriented teaching.

She holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Computer Science, a Master of Computer Applications (MCA), and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP). She has further strengthened her expertise through professional certifications in Data Analytics, Mobile Application Development, Artificial Intelligence, and emerging educational technologies. She has also participated in Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) and industry training initiatives, including Infosys Campus Connect and Oracle Academy, supporting the integration of current industry practices into teaching and curriculum development.

Prior to joining the University of Stirling, Dr. Amala served as Assistant Professor II at Kumaraguru College of Technology, India, for over 11 years, contributing to curriculum development, academic quality assurance, programme administration, student mentoring, Board of Studies activities, and institutional quality enhancement. She also served as an ERP Trainer, coordinated departmental reporting, managed the department's newsletter and website, and organised international conferences, guest lectures, Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), and Social Impact Programmes. Earlier in her career, she gained software industry experience, strengthening her ability to bridge academic knowledge with professional practice.

Her teaching areas include Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Analytics, Mobile Application Development, User Interface Design, and Database Systems. Her research interests include Educational Data Mining, Learning Analytics, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Intelligent Data-Driven Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT). She has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications in Scopus-indexed and Web of Science-indexed journals, as well as papers presented at IEEE international conferences and other internationally recognised scholarly venues.
