Assistant Professor
Dr. Aqil Waqar Khan is an experienced academician, researcher, and finance professional with over 13 years of combined academic, administrative, and professional experience in the fields of Accounting, Finance, Corporate Governance, and Business Management. Dr. Khan holds a PhD in Management Sciences (Major in Finance) from Bahria University, along with an MS in Banking and Finance and a BBA (Hons) from COMSATS University Islamabad, Pakistan, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA/Advance HE, UK). Core academic and research expertise includes Corporate Governance, Financial Performance, Sustainable Finance, Artificial Intelligence in Finance, Banking & Financial Markets, Investment Analysis, Financial Reporting, and Strategic Management, with research interests particularly focused on the intersection of AI, sustainability, governance, and financial innovation.
Dr. Khan currently serves as an Assistant Professor in Accounting and Finance at the University of Stirling since August 2023, and as a Fellowship Mentor and Reviewer for Advance HE since May 2025. Prior to joining the University of Stirling, Dr. Khan worked as a Lecturer at the University of Haripur and the University of Wah, and held several senior academic leadership positions including Principal, Vice Principal, Deputy Director (Admissions & Student Affairs), and Program Coordinator in reputable higher education institutions in Pakistan.

Beyond teaching, Dr. Khan has extensive experience in academic quality assurance, curriculum development, accreditation support, student advising, and educational governance, and has actively contributed to institutional committees related to academic development, accreditation, quality enhancement, student engagement, and distance learning policies.
Dr. Khan is an active researcher with 16 peer-reviewed research publications in international journals indexed by Scopus, ABDC, Web of Science, and HEC-recognized databases, with research focused on Artificial Intelligence, sustainable finance, corporate governance, board diversity, renewable energy transition, digital transformation, and organizational performance. Dr. Khan also serves as a reviewer for internationally recognized journals and conferences including:
Dr. Khan has actively participated in and delivered numerous Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions, workshops, and training initiatives related to Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, Research Ethics, Learning Design, Accounting & Finance, Statistical Analysis using Stata, and Dissertation Writing Skills.
