Dr. Aqil Waqar Khan

Dr. Aqil Waqar Khan is an Assistant Professor of Accounting & Finance at the University of Stirling, Ras Al Khaimah Campus, UAE, with over 13 years of experience in higher education, academic leadership, and professional development. His academic career spans teaching, curriculum development, quality assurance, programme leadership, and student mentoring across institutions in the UAE and Pakistan. As a Senior Fellow (SFHEA) of Advance HE, UK, he is committed to fostering an engaging learning environment through research-led teaching, experiential learning, and meaningful industry collaboration, preparing graduates with the knowledge, skills, and professional attributes required for success in a rapidly evolving global business landscape.

Dr. Aqil holds a PhD in Management Sciences (Finance) from Bahria University, Pakistan, an MS in Banking & Finance, and a BBA (Hons) from COMSATS University. He has further strengthened his leadership expertise through the Exercising Leadership programme at Harvard University. Throughout his career, he has held several academic leadership roles, including Programme Coordinator, Deputy Director (Admissions & Student Affairs), Principal, and Vice Principal. In addition, he serves as an Advance HE Fellowship Mentor and Reviewer, supporting academics in achieving professional recognition and enhancing teaching excellence.

His teaching expertise encompasses Corporate Finance, Securities & Investment, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Auditing, Taxation, Personal Finance, International Business, Project Management, and Business Law. He is passionate about integrating real-world applications, financial technologies, and contemporary business challenges into the curriculum to enhance student engagement and graduate employability.

Dr. Aqil's research focuses on corporate governance, sustainable finance, artificial intelligence in business and higher education, financial performance, and strategic management. He has published extensively in internationally indexed journals and actively contributes to the academic community as a reviewer for leading publishers, including Springer Nature, Emerald, and Wiley. His scholarship is complemented by industry-engaged projects, conference presentations, curriculum innovation, and professional development initiatives that strengthen the connection between research, teaching, and practice.
