Assistant Professor
Dr. Narina Thakur is an Assistant Professor in Computing at the University of Stirling, Ras Al Khaimah Campus, UAE, with over 25 years of experience in higher education across India and the UAE. Her expertise spans Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and emerging digital technologies. She focuses on research-led teaching, innovation, and practice-oriented learning to develop globally competent computing graduates.
She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Amity University Uttar Pradesh, India, specializing in Information Retrieval and Machine Learning. She was a Gold Medalist in her B.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering) from Himachal Pradesh University and holds an M.Tech in Information Technology from Punjab Technical University, India.
She has held several academic leadership positions, including Dean (Research & Development), Head of the Department (CSE), Head of the Research and Innovation Committee, and Associate Professor (CSE) at Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, Delhi; Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology, Delhi; and the University of Stirling, RAK Campus. She has also served as Adjunct Faculty at Amity University Dubai. Her teaching areas include Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms, Data Structures, Compiler Design, Java Programming, Database Systems, Operating Systems, Mobile Application Development, and Distributed and Concurrent Systems.
Dr. Thakur has published over 80+ peer-reviewed research papers in SCI/ESCI and Scopus-indexed journals, as well as ACM, IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, and international conference publications. She has an H-index of 17, authored four books, and reviewed numerous research publications. She successfully led a DST, Government of India-funded ICPS project, Autonomous Intelligent Drone for Smart City Surveillance, as Principal Investigator, and served as Co-Principal Investigator on a DRDO CARS consultancy project on Data Mining Techniques. She also holds an Indian Design Patent for wearable assistive technology for the visually impaired. Her research interests include Computational Intelligence, Applied Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
Dr. Thakur has delivered invited expert talks at prestigious AICTE-ATAL and DST-sponsored Faculty Development Programs hosted by CCET–Panjab University, Jamia Hamdard University, and VIT Mumbai. She also served as an Editor and Session Chair for the Springer International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Networks (ICAIN 2025), organized by BITS Pilani Dubai Campus, UAE.
