Ms. Santhuana Sedhumadhavan

Ms. Santhuana Sedhumadhavan is a Lecturer at the University of Stirling with over six years of experience in higher education and educational technology. Having grown up and completed her education in the United Arab Emirates, she brings a strong understanding of the region's multicultural educational landscape and the needs of its diverse student community. She teaches undergraduate computing courses, with a particular focus on programming, specialising in Java, while also delivering modules in software development and artificial intelligence

She holds an MSc in Information Science and a Bachelor of Information Systems and Management from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai.

Before joining higher education, she spent five years at Delhi Private School, Sharjah, where she led educational technology initiatives, delivered digital skills training for teachers, administrative staff, and students, and mentored students for international STEM and robotics competitions.

Her teaching focuses on making computing accessible, engaging, and relevant through practical learning, inclusive teaching practices, and the thoughtful integration of emerging technologies. She believes that every student learns differently and aims to create learning experiences that build confidence alongside technical knowledge.

Her research interests include inclusive pedagogy, beginner programming education, technology-enhanced learning, and artificial intelligence in education. She has presented her work at the University of Stirling Learning and Teaching Conference and the Asian Conference on Education (ACE2025), where her research explored the role of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in enhancing student engagement. She is particularly interested in how novice programmers develop computational thinking and how technology can support more inclusive learning experiences.
