Dr. Shamik Palit

Dr. Shamik Palit is an accomplished academician, researcher, and industry professional with over 23 years of combined teaching, research, academic leadership, and industry experience in the domains of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Palit currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Natural Sciences (FNS) at the University of Stirling, Ras Al Khaimah Campus, United Arab Emirates, associated with the university since 1st August 2022.

Dr. Palit holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from Himalayan University, India, completed during 2014–2021. Doctoral research focused on Web Technology in Electronic Customer Relationship Management, with the thesis titled “The Consequences of Computerized Consumer Relation on Client Satisfaction – A Study on Web Banking in India.” A Certificate of Recognition (Equivalency) from the Ministry of Education, United Arab Emirates, has also been obtained.

A Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Computer Science and Engineering was completed at West Bengal University of Technology, India, during 2006–2008, securing First Class with Distinction. Prior to this, a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Science and Engineering was completed at the University of Burdwan, West Bengal, India, during 1998–2002, also with First Class and Distinction.

At the University of Stirling, Dr. Palit plays multiple academic, administrative, research, and leadership roles, including:

• Associate Professor – FNS (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence)
• Program Director – FNS, managing a multicultural and diversified team of faculty members
