Dr. Shamik Palit

Dr. Shamik Palit is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Natural Science and Program Director for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Stirling, Ras Al Khaimah Campus, UAE. He has more than 22 years of combined experience in higher education, corporate training, technology management, academic leadership and research across India and the UAE. His work focuses on program leadership, artificial intelligence and data science education, research-led teaching, software engineering, industry engagement and the development of practice-ready, globally competent graduates.

He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science, an M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering, and a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering. He is currently pursuing postdoctoral research at Lincoln University College, Malaysia. His professional credentials include Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom, and membership in professional organizations including the IEEE UAE Section, the Indian Science Congress Association and the International Association of Engineers.

Dr. Palit has held academic, technology and leadership positions at Manipal University Dubai, Aptech Limited, Rolta India and reputed engineering and higher education institutions in India. His professional experience includes program management, curriculum design, quality assurance, faculty development, corporate outreach, project supervision, enterprise application development, learning management system implementation, ERP implementation and the development of university–industry partnerships.

His teaching areas include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Python Programming, Scripting Languages, Software Engineering, Data Structures, Cybersecurity, Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Web and Mobile Application Development, Enterprise Applications, Project Management, E-Commerce, Managing Information and Emerging Technologies.

His research interests include artificial intelligence, machine learning, explainable analytics, data science, natural language processing, computer vision, blockchain, cybersecurity, trusted systems, enterprise applications, digital transformation, technology-enhanced education and sustainable innovation. His research explores how emerging technologies can be applied to solve practical challenges in finance, engineering, education, sustainability, cybersecurity and digital business.

His scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed articles published in internationally recognized and indexed journals, a book on machine learning, and book chapters published by CRC Press, Routledge, Springer and IGI Global. He has also presented research papers at IEEE and other international conferences and has contributed to patent and design-related outputs.

He is particularly passionate about creating innovative learning environments that connect academic knowledge with professional practice and prepare students for rapidly evolving careers in artificial intelligence, data science and software engineering.
