Ms. Thasneem Shamsudeen

Ms. Thasneem Shamsudeen is an Assistant Professor in Accounting and Finance at the University of Stirling, Ras Al Khaimah Campus, UAE. She has more than seven years of combined experience in higher education, professional accounting education, and industry practice across the UAE. She is committed to delivering research-led, practice-oriented learning that connects academic theory with professional application. Her teaching and consultancy experience enables students to develop the analytical and practical skills required in today’s global business environment.

She is currently pursuing a PhD in Management, specialising in Finance, at Management and Science University, Malaysia. She holds an MSc in Professional Accountancy from the University of London, UK, a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Birla Institute of Technology, Ras Al Khaimah, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher and Professional Education (PGCert) from the University of Greater Manchester, UK. Her professional credentials include membership of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and membership of the Emirates Association of Accountants and Auditors (EAAA).

Prior to joining the University of Stirling, Ms. Thasneem served as Programme Lead and Senior Lecturer for the bachelor’s and master’s Accountancy programmes at the University of Greater Manchester, Ras Al Khaimah Campus. She previously held academic positions as a Lecturer at Northwood University and as an ACCA Mentor at Birla Institute of Technology, Ras Al Khaimah. Alongside her academic career, she has provided accounting and tax consultancy services to SMEs across the UAE, supporting financial reporting, VAT compliance, bookkeeping, and business advisory.

Her teaching expertise spans undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programmes in Accounting and Finance. Her teaching areas include financial reporting, personal finance, taxation, auditing, corporate finance, management accounting, financial accounting, business analysis, corporate governance with a strong emphasis on academic excellence, professional relevance, and the practical application of knowledge.

Her research interests include ESG performance, sustainability reporting, sustainable finance, corporate governance, ownership structures, firm valuation, cash-flow stability, and corporate financial resilience. She is particularly interested in how sustainability practices and governance mechanisms influence organisational performance and long-term value creation, especially within emerging markets. Her broader interests also include accounting and finance education, financial analytics, and the application of artificial intelligence in accounting and business decision-making.

Ms. Thasneem remains committed to academic excellence, research-led teaching, and the development of ethically responsible, practice-ready graduates equipped to succeed in an evolving global business environment.
